Universities file reply in CPT lawsuit ahead of Nov. 6 hearing

The universities and associations suing DHS over SEVP's August CPT broadcasts filed a 21-page reply on November 4 in federal court in Massachusetts. They argue the broadcasts changed a decades-old policy that let schools authorize CPT for credit-bearing training that is not required, rather than merely restating the rule. The government argued on October 28 that the broadcasts only remind schools of the regulation. The plaintiffs ask the court to stay the broadcasts and bar their enforcement. No court has ruled, and the broadcasts remain SEVP's stated position. Judge Julia E. Kobick hears the request on November 6 at 3:00 p.m.
