Judge gives DHS until October 28 to respond in universities' lawsuit over CPT broadcasts

On October 19, a federal judge in Boston granted the government's request for more time to answer the universities' challenge to SEVP's August 2026 CPT broadcasts. DHS's response to the motion asking the court to pause the broadcasts is now due October 28 instead of October 19. The case, brought by the Association of American Universities, the Presidents' Alliance, NAFSA and a Massachusetts college association, is before Judge Julia E. Kobick. A hearing on the motion is set for November 6 at 3:00 p.m. The broadcasts remain SEVP's stated position, and the CPT regulation is unchanged. DSOs should keep treating the broadcasts as the agency's current view until the court rules.
